1.- Establishing Macrocystis morphological variability patterns along the Chilean coast. 2.- Quantifying the environmental variability, Macrocystis population dynamic and productivity of independent populations along a stress gradient. 3.- Field experiments. Transplant of juvenile sporophytes with different morphology (few, <2 fronds vs. multiple, >3 fronds) were transplanted to Pargua and Metri, to establish if sporophytes can show a plastic response to localities with different environmental conditions. 4.- Laboratory experiments. Juvenile kelp sporophytes kelps can be produced in floating culture systems making possible to have multiple versus low number of fronds. 5.- Outdoors tank experiments. 6.- Farming experiments. Experiments on suspended lines as commercial kelp farm installations were run during stressful conditions (spring-summer).
